My Thai Kitchen

Last Saturday, October 02, 2010, my husband and I had to rush to Eastwood City Libis for my clay workshop with Rocky at 2pm. Since we kind of woke up late, prepared then went straight to Libis, we were not able to have lunch at home.

Fortunately, despite the heavy traffic we encountered on our way there we arrived around 115pm, giving us enough time to have lunch in Eastwood Mall while waiting for Rocky's text message.

Anyway, we roamed around the mall to see where we can eat. Since we are meeting Rocky in one of the exits of the mall, we decided to just stay there. While walking, we came across My Thai Kitchen. We checked the large menu displayed just right in front of their entrance and decided to try it out.

The following are the foods we ordered:

  • Gai - Chicken Thai Curries @ Php275.00

Unlike the usual curries, I didn't feel any spice nor curry flavoring on this at all. Although I must say I loved how the veggies were cooked, crunchy!

  • Gai Yang - Thai Style Grilled Boneless Chicken @ Php270.00

The grilled chicken that was served to us was bland. Thanks to the peppered sweet-sour vinegar, at least we found a way to enjoy the grilled chicken we ordered.

  • Khau Kluk Gapi - Bagoong Rice with Sweet Pork and Green Mangoes @ Php230.00

Now this is a definite must-try should you wish to dine at My Thai Kitchen! I loved how the rice was mixed with the Bagoong. There seemed to be a balance between the two. My husband and I mixed the chopped sweet pork, onions and egg with the rice. This was the only food amongst all that we've ordered that we actually enjoyed eating. Yum!

  • Fried Rice Thai Style @ Php85.00

I just tried a couple of spoon full of this... I find this just the same as the curry, 'nothing really special'. It's like you can almost eat it everywhere or better yet even cook it yourself and you'll end up with the same taste of fried rice. In short, it was a typical fried rice with chopped spring onions and toasted garlic on top, that only made it look like a special one.
  • Coke @ Php55.00
  • Water @ Php45.00
All in all I give My Thai Kitchen a 3 out of 5 stars. I'd say it's a bit pricey for the average taste of food. Although the ambiance is nice and the service was fast, we were actually surprised that the food was delivered after about 5-10 minutes after ordering.

If you're in a hurry and not really in the look-out for good tasting food plus won't mind the price, you can drop by this restaurant. But if you're to ask if we'd come back to eat here anytime soon? I'd say no. For the price of the food, we'd rather dine at any Persian restaurant, same amount of food but a huge difference in taste and servings. ☺
