May 17, 2010 was the date I bought my first clay...
Klayola Sample Pack @ P280.00 (25g per color)
But it took me a couple more months after that before I started working on this clay sampler. I didn't really know what to do with it at first... And just the same as crochet, I had hoped to learn the craft on my own.
And this was my first (failed) project:
A burned blue pig.
Lessons learned:
- Because I intentionally placed my project at the bottom part of the oven (thinking it might turn out sturdier) where the heating coil is, the poor thing wasn't able to stand the heat causing the clay on the feet part to melt! Crazy me, what was I thinking!???
- Second, I would need to buy me a good aluminum foil (coz I just took some foil from the chocolate I was eating) and a cookie sheet is really necessary for baking the clay. The aluminum foil that I used sticked to the finished project, leaving shiny spots at the bottom part of it. =( Really messy, I know...
The project may have been burnt but the overall experience was definitely worth-it! I found out that Klayola is a good clay to use because the project ended up with what I had hoped for it to be - a hard object. ☺ Plus, I enjoyed every moment spent sculpting, baking and waiting for the finished project.
hi! ano po gamit nyong temperature using klayola clays? lagi kasing undercooked yung result ng clays ko, 130 degrees celcius for 15 mins ang gamit ko. hope you can help me. thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Dorang gala! It really depends on the size of the project. For the one shown above, I did just about the same temp and time that you did but mine was overcooked. For me, having an oven thermometer helps a lot :-)
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your projects!
